Purchasing Lunch
Buying Lunch at School |
|
Value | The school meals ensures that your child is receiving a nutritionally balanced meal. More variety (an established dietary guideline) is easier to achieve through school meals. The school lunch is less expensive than a lunch of equal nutritional value prepared and packed at home. |
Lunch Prices | The Cheshire School Lunch Program is non-profit and self-sustaining. Lunch prices are as follows: Elementary Schools $3.00, Middle School $3.25, both of which includes an 8 oz milk. At the High School: Tier 1 is $3.60 which includes an 8 oz milk, Tier 2 is $4.60 which includes a 8 oz milk carton, and premium cuts of chicken, Made to Order Deli and Wraps and Salad Bar. 8 oz milk is $.75. Free or reduced meals are available to eligible students and may eat at any line or any tier. Click HERE for an meal application. Federal and state reimbursements and government commodities help to offset the cost of lunches for students. A la Carte prices are set to encourage students to buy a lunch--the best nutritional buy. No reimbursement is received for adult lunches, and prices are therefore slightly higher for adults. Prices are set by the Board of Education and are adjusted occasionally to reflect fluctuating costs and federal/state subsidies. |
