Kindergarten Registration Information

Kindergarten Registration will be held on Thursday, June 2nd from 2-5 pm IN-PERSON at your child's districted school.  Doolittle & Darcey registrations will all go through Darcey School.

Welcome to Cheshire Public Schools - particularly if this is your first experience!  A child’s first year in education is very important and so exciting!  Your child's first year will be rich in outstanding educational experiences and opportunities for learning in our full day kindergarten program.

In order to be eligible to register for kindergarten for the 2022-23 school year, your child must be five years old before January 1, 2023 (born on or before January 1, 2018).  The school your child will attend for kindergarten is based on your street address, with the exception of Doolittle and Darcey Schools.  If you are unsure which school your child will attend, a complete list of streets and districted schools can be found on the School Districts by Street link below.

For Darcey/Doolittle students only: ALL Darcey/Doolittle students are to be registered through Darcey.  We request that you complete this survey regarding your preference for either Darcey or Doolittle, and return it with your registration forms.  While we cannot guarantee placement requests, Cheshire Public Schools will make every effort to accommodate students and families.

The district will review all kindergarten registrations based on existing school district lines and space availability, and will make every effort to honor the home school concept.  In late May, you will receive a welcome letter from the Principal of the school your kindergarten child will attend.  In August, both you and your child will receive notice of Kindergarten Orientation that will be held prior to the opening of school.  This orientation will provide you with the opportunity to learn about the kindergarten program, transportation, school health services, the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), as well as a chance to visit a kindergarten classroom. I warmly welcome you to Cheshire Public Schools’ community.  I am confident that your child’s kindergarten experience will be a very positive and rewarding one.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s school.
