Welcome to Norton School

Thank you for visiting the Norton School website. Norton School is a caring, professional learning community in Cheshire, CT.  We are composed of approximately 70 teachers and support staff and approximately 420 students in grades kindergarten through sixth grade. Our talented and dedicated teachers and support staff work with the parents and community to provide a positive, safe, nurturing, and fun environment that contributes to student success.  In this supportive and challenging learning environment students are encouraged and guided to SOAR each day as they become complex thinkers and responsible citizens.  Our staff is dedicated to our rigorous Cheshire Public Schools curriculum and to Responsive Classroom practices, which together, foster student academic and social emotional growth.  They work collaboratively to provide opportunities for students to meet grade level standards through the use of data driven decision making and continual professional development.  Technology is an integral part of our learning environment and is supported through the use of Smartboards and one to one devices including Chromebooks and iPads.  In addition, we have professional educators who teach and enhance learning in general music, instrumental music (grades 5-6), physical education, art, library (grades K-5) and Spanish (grade 6). We also have highly trained literacy coaches and parent volunteers to support the great work we do at Norton. Our vibrant PTA  enriches our school by offering many meaningful experiences for our students over the course of the year. Parents and guardians are encouraged to join this group and attend PTA meetings. We hope you find our website useful to meet your needs or to get to know our amazing BLUE RIBBON SCHOOL!
